This month, on the two-year lunar anniversary of Thay’s passing, Thay’s monastics and lay disciples from around the world will gather in Vietnam to honor our beloved teacher as he becomes an ancestor in our lineage. The Plum Village community has prepared articles and resources for you to enjoy and support your understanding of this momentous event.

Information Session: Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 Anglican Parish Hall 238 Commercial Street, Berwick Please note, there is no fee for attendance. Happily we are now able to gather once again beginning on Sunday, January 17th at 1pm. Please arrive a few minutes early to get settled. Though the Town has reopened its facilities, everyone is asked to kindly practice physical distancing and to wear a mask inside as a precaution for everyone's health and safety. Looking forward to seeing you!
Hopefully our sangha will once again be able to gather together someday soon within the next few months. Please check here for any updates on the reopening of our gathering space.
In the meantime, one great resource is the bi-weekly email entitled The Raft available from Plum Village which provides guided meditations, dharma talks, and other suggestions to help you further your practice. For further details and to subscribe, click here. Unfortunately our meditation sessions at The Town Hall gym in Berwick are now suspended due to the resurge in COVID-19 across our province. It is important that everyone stay safe at this time. Please check the resource page for online links and suggestions for following your practice at home. There are also a multitude of online talks and guided meditations by Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village monastics on YouTube. Mindfulness meditation is more important than ever right now. Following our breath is so simple and yet so powerful. Stay safe and feel free to send a message on the contact page should you have any questions. Homecoming Sangha will now gather in the gymnasium of the Berwick Town Hall building at 236 Commercial Street. This new space provides a convenient location with lots of space for both sitting and walking meditation. The gym is located in the back of the building where there is also lots of parking. The time has also changed to Sundays from 1:00pm to 2:30pm and we will meet for the first time at this new location on October 18th. Hope to see you there!
UPDATE ON THAY
On Sunday, October 11th, Thich Nhat Hanh will be 94 years old. Since his massive stroke almost six years ago, he has been lovingly cared for by the nuns and monks of Plum Village, for the last two years in at Từ Hiếu Temple in Huế, Vietnam. To mark this day in a meaningful way, the monastics of Plum Village are inviting all of Thầy’s hundreds of thousands of students to practice walking meditation, and to forgive and love those with whom they have difficulties. Read the full message with updates on Thay's health and wellbeing from Plum Village here. Welcome. This year has been full of challenges and mindful meditation is a wonderful way to deal with stress and to simply stop for a peaceful breath or two. If you already meditate or if you are simply curious, join us at our weekly session. Gathering together with like-minded individuals brings a special energy to meditation practice. Community is so important. Please check back here often for news and updates. |
